Cameren Fleming, a redshirt sophomore at Virginia Tech, has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal, seeking new opportunities to further his collegiate football career. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 202 pounds, Fleming has been a versatile presence in the Hokies’ defense, having been utilized in multiple positions, including cornerback, safety, star linebacker, and inside linebacker, during his tenure in Blacksburg.
Originally a three-star safety recruit from Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia, Fleming joined the Hokies in 2023. Over two seasons, he appeared in four games, recording two tackles, both during a game against Stanford in the previous fall. Despite limited playing time, his adaptability across various defensive roles highlights his potential value to prospective programs.
Fleming’s entry into the transfer portal marks the seventh such move for Virginia Tech during the spring window, joining teammates quarterback Davi Belfort, offensive linemen Caleb Nitta and Web Davidson, defensive lineman Jorden McDonald, linebacker Jayden McDonald, and defensive back Braylon Johnson. With three years of eligibility remaining, Fleming offers a promising option for teams seeking a flexible and experienced defensive player.
