Shocking Virginia Tech Hokies Football News: Top Sensational Star Player To Leave Virginia Tech Hokies Football At End Of Contract Due To…

Virginia Tech Adds Deep-Threat Receiver Spencer from Jackson State

Virginia Tech has bolstered its wide receiver corps with the addition of Spencer, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound transfer from Jackson State. Hailing from Madison, Mississippi, Spencer brings both size and explosive playmaking ability to Blacksburg.

Last season, he hauled in 35 catches for 660 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an eye-catching 18.8 yards per reception. Over two seasons at Jackson State, he played in 25 games (starting 13), accumulating 59 receptions, 867 yards, and five scores. He arrives at Virginia Tech with two years of eligibility remaining.

The Hokies are reloading at the wide receiver position following the departure of several key contributors. Jaylin Lane, Da’Quan Felton, Stephen Gosnell, and Ali Jennings all finished their collegiate eligibility in 2024. Lane was drafted by the Washington Commanders, while the others received NFL minicamp invites or signed as undrafted free agents.

To address the vacancies, Tech was active in the transfer portal. In the winter window, they secured commitments from Cameron Seldon (Tennessee) and Donavon Greene (Wake Forest). Both are expected to play significant roles in the upcoming season, joining Ayden Greene and now Spencer as part of a refreshed receiving unit.

Spencer offers versatility—he can line up in the slot or stretch the field vertically as a downfield threat, something the Hokies lost with the departures of Lane and Felton.

His addition marks the seventh player to join Virginia Tech during the spring transfer portal period, following 19 other transfers brought in during the winter.
