Indiana Fever Facing Backlash Over Major Announcement Before WNBA Season

As the 2025 WNBA season approaches, the Indiana Fever continues to push the envelope with a new way to put Caitlin Clark & Co. in front of more fans.

The Fever is already set to be a television phenomenon this season. Out of their 44 regular-season games, 40 will be on national television. Last year, Indiana was nationally televised 36 times during Clark’s Rookie of the Year campaign, and it paid off. Those games averaged 1.19 million viewers, compared to an average of 394,000 for games not involving Clark.

In 2025, fans will not even need national networks to watch the Fever. The team announced its first direct-to-consumer streaming service, “Fever Direct,” on Thursday.

The streaming option promises regular season games and full game replays to anybody with WiFi and a smart device who can shell out $29.99 for a season pass — but there’s a catch that fans are not happy about.

The service is not accessible everywhere. It is only available “to fans living within the Indiana Fever approved region,” according to the official website

The website does not include a list or map of the approved region. The only way to know is by searching your zip code, which plenty of fans across the country and outside the United States did. They came away disappointed with the result.
