Tempers frayed after the two of the biggest stars in women’s basketball clashed on the court.

 

Caitlin Clark said her infringement on rival Angel Reese was “just a good take foul” after the Indiana Fever hammered the Chicago Sky in the WNBA. In the third quarter of the clash, which the Fever won 93-58, the pair became embroiled in a heated bust-up after Clark knocked her rival to the ground.

 

Reese was poised to shoot when Clark, 23, appeared to intentionally grab her and knock her off balance. Reese reacted furiously and was held back by team-mates as she lunged towards the Fever point guard. Her protests didn’t end there, also restrained by Chicago coaches as she aimed an X-rated outburst at Clark.

 

“You crazy as f**k” she shouted, with her bad language picked up by the live television cameras. As Clark turned her back on Reese, she added: “What the f*ck is wrong with you?”

 

Referees looked at the play and determined that Clark had used her left hand to shove Reese to the ground. The 23-year-old and fellow Fever player Aliyah Boston were then issued technical fouls.

 

However, after the match, Clark was flippant about the flashpoint. She also took a subtle dig at Reese, implying most players would have done the same thing in her situation.

 

 

“It’s just a good take foul,” she told ESPN. “Either Angel gets wide open two points, or we send them to the free throw line. Nothing malicious about it…every basketball player knows that.”

 

The unsavoury moment is the latest in a long line of incidents between the two stars.
