Official WNBA Update: Indiana Fever General Manager Amber Cox and Head Coach Stephanie White just officially announced the termination of three top sensational star players’ contracts ahead of Atlanta Dream….

Caitlin Clark is on a path that could eventually place her among the top five players in Indiana Fever history—and if she continues at this rate, she may even finish as the second-greatest player the team has ever seen.

However, she hasn’t quite reached that level yet.

The Fever have been home to many outstanding athletes over the years, including Tamika Catchings, who is widely considered a strong candidate for the greatest player in WNBA history.

Here’s a look at the top five players in Indiana Fever history:

5. Briann January

Though her spot on this list might not last with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston rising quickly, Briann January deserves recognition now for being one of the elite defensive guards of her era.
Over her nine seasons with Indiana, January earned six All-Defensive Team honors and was a key member of the team’s 2012 WNBA championship squad.
Scoring wasn’t her main strength, but she was a reliable outside shooter—making 37.6% of her career 3-point attempts and topping 40% from beyond the arc three times (twice while with the Fever). She led the league in 3-point percentage twice and sits at 39th all-time in 3-pointers made.

4. Tammy Sutton-Brown

Sutton-Brown joined Indiana later in her career, during her seventh season in the WNBA, but made an immediate impact by earning an All-Star selection in her first year with the team.
She played a key starting role in the 2012 championship season and retired after that year.
Although not known for eye-popping stats, she was a strong supporting player for some of the team’s best rosters.
She ranks fourth in franchise history in total rebounds and second in blocked shots (behind only Catchings), even though she played fewer games than others ahead of her in the rankings.

3. Kelsey Mitchell

The only current player on this list, Mitchell holds the franchise record for points per game among players with at least 50 appearances — a title that Caitlin Clark may soon take.
Now in her eighth season with Indiana, Mitchell has sometimes been criticized for putting up big numbers during losing seasons, but she’s shifted the narrative recently.
She earned All-Star selections in 2023 and 2024 and finished 10th in MVP voting last season.
Mitchell is also one of the league’s top long-range shooters—ranking 14th all-time in made 3-pointers, with that number continuing to climb. If she remains with the Fever beyond her next contract, she’ll likely stay among the franchise’s all-time elite.

2. Katie Douglas

Katie Douglas may have only spent six seasons with the Fever, but they were highly impactful years.
During her time in Indiana, she was a key piece of consistently competitive teams, known for her scoring ability, perimeter defense, and leadership. Her contributions helped solidify the Fever’s status as a perennial contender during her tenure.
