Four Local Coaches Honored as MAC Coaches of the Year

A big round of applause goes out to four exceptional coaches who have recently been recognized by the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) for their remarkable achievements during the 2024 athletic season. Poplarville’s Jay Beech, Gulfport’s Logan Fallo, Bay High’s Chris Doxey, and Our Lady Academy’s Emily Corley have each earned the prestigious title of MAC Coach of the Year in their respective sports. Their dedication, leadership, and record-breaking seasons have earned them well-deserved accolades.

Jay Beech – Football Coach of the Year (Poplarville High School)
Poplarville High School’s head football coach, Jay Beech, has been named the MAC Football Coach of the Year following a historic season for the Hornets. Under Beech’s leadership, the team achieved an outstanding 13-2 record and ended the season with a five-game winning streak. Most notably, the Hornets claimed their first-ever State Championship title this year—an extraordinary milestone in the program’s history. Coach Beech’s strategic leadership and consistent focus were vital in guiding the team to victory throughout the season. Congratulations to Coach Beech for this landmark achievement!

Logan Fallo – Boys Powerlifting Coach of the Year (Gulfport High School)
In Gulfport, Logan Fallo continues to build a powerhouse in powerlifting, and his efforts have earned him the title of MAC Boys Powerlifting Coach of the Year. This season, the Gulfport Admirals secured their fourth consecutive state championship, marking their seventh title in just eight years. In addition to this success, Fallo also played a significant role in the Lady Admirals’ powerlifting team, who captured their first-ever State Championship this season as well. Coach Fallo’s commitment to excellence and his ability to develop athletes across both boys’ and girls’ programs have truly set him apart.

Chris Doxey – Boys Soccer Coach of the Year (Bay High School)
Bay High School’s head boys soccer coach, Chris Doxey, has been recognized as the MAC Boys Soccer Coach of the Year after a stellar season. Doxey’s Tiger squad made history by winning three consecutive State Championships, setting a school record. The team demonstrated dominance throughout the year, finishing with a 15-3 overall record and going undefeated in district play. This unprecedented run of success reflects Doxey’s exceptional coaching and the high level of performance he inspires in his athletes.

Emily Corley – Volleyball Coach of the Year (Our Lady Academy)
Rounding out the list is Emily Corley, head volleyball coach at Our Lady Academy (OLA), who has been honored as the MAC Volleyball Coach of the Year. Under her guidance, the Lady Crescents achieved their third straight State Championship this season. The team had an exceptional year, boasting a 41-4 overall record and maintaining an undefeated record in district competition. Corley’s leadership, strategic expertise, and player development have played a crucial role in establishing OLA as a dominant force in Mississippi high school volleyball.

Awards Ceremony Details
These four outstanding coaches will be officially recognized at a celebratory ceremony hosted by the Mississippi Association of Coaches. The event will take place on Thursday, July 10th, at the Sheraton Refuge Hotel in Flowood. The evening promises to be a well-earned celebration of the achievements of these coaching leaders, each of whom has left an indelible mark on their respective programs and the broader athletic community.
