Auburn Alum Sal Cannella Named to 2025 All-UFL Team
Former Auburn tight end Sal Cannella continues to make his mark in professional football, earning a spot on the 2025 All-United Football League (UFL) Team. Playing for the Arlington Renegades, Cannella posted impressive numbers this season, tallying 44 receptions for 474 yards and a touchdown across 10 games.
Cannella finished the season ranked second in the UFL in receptions and sixth in receiving yards, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s top pass-catching tight ends.
This marks Cannella’s second all-star selection since concluding his college career at Auburn. He last wore a Tigers uniform on Jan. 1, 2020, catching a memorable 37-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix in the Outback Bowl against Minnesota. He later received All-USFL honors in 2022 while playing for the New Orleans Breakers during the league’s revival based in Birmingham.
Cannella’s professional journey has taken him through multiple spring leagues. He joined the Arlington Renegades during the XFL’s 2023 reboot, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s 35-26 victory over the D.C. Defenders in the XFL Championship Game. In that contest, he notched four catches for 71 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown.
Returning to Arlington in 2024, now part of the newly merged United Football League—a union between the USFL and XFL—Cannella delivered another standout performance. He led the league in touchdown receptions with six, ranked third in catches with 53, and placed fifth in receiving yards with 497.
In addition to his spring league success, Cannella has also spent time with several NFL organizations, including the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The UFL unveiled its All-League Team on Monday. Selections were determined by a panel consisting of team and league executives, coaches, players, and media partners from across the UFL’s eight franchises.
