NBA Finals Announcers Say Indiana Fever Will Be a Serious Threat When Caitlin Clark Returns to Full Health
Caitlin Clark, sidelined with an injury, once again grabbed a courtside seat for the NBA Finals, attending Game 3 on Wednesday night. The Indiana Fever rookie phenom was spotted alongside teammate Aliyah Boston, with Natasha Howard accompanying them this time in place of Lexie Hull, who had taken the third seat in previous games.
In Indianapolis, it seems the Fever’s brightest stars—namely Clark and Boston, the No. 1 overall picks from the 2023 and 2024 WNBA Drafts, respectively—are mainstays at marquee sporting events. Other teammates appear to rotate in to share the extra high-profile ticket.
When the broadcast camera turned to the Fever trio during the first quarter, ESPN analyst Doris Burke emphasized the importance of Clark’s return to the team. Fellow commentator Richard Jefferson didn’t mince words, saying the Fever would be “an absolute problem” once she’s healthy and back on the floor.
Natasha Howard, a seasoned forward selected fifth overall by Indiana in the 2014 WNBA Draft, rejoined the Fever this offseason as a free agent. This year, she’s been a key contributor, suiting up in all nine games and averaging 11.9 points per contest—making her the team’s fourth-leading scorer. She also ranks second in rebounds, just behind Boston.
The Fever have started their 2025 season with a 4-5 record. Head coach Stephanie White recently addressed Clark’s recovery, noting the team is being methodical and deliberate about her return. Encouragingly, Clark has begun to ramp up her activities, signaling progress in her rehabilitation.
